Google Releases Penguin 1.1 Update

google research penguinAs always, Google enjoys tinkering with their algorithm in order to enhance search results. The much maligned Penguin update to fight webspam has received its first update since launching on 24th April.

Google's Matt Cutts announced the 1.1 update on Twitter last Friday.

"Minor weather report: We pushed 1st Penguin algo data refresh an hour ago. Affects <0.1% of English searches. Context:"

Cutts was certainly light on the details about the update, but there seems to be no need to run for the hills this time. Penguin 1.1 was relatively minor, only tweaking less than one-tenth of English language searches and there's been little reported fall out from the update thus far.

As with the main Penguin update, if your rankings have improved then 'yay' for you, but if they've dropped then you've got to do drastically change your SEO strategy, otherwise Google will keep penalising you. Penguin certainly is here to stay by the looks of it.
