Google Still No. 1 Search Engine

Google Privacy PolicyInternet search engine giant Google has been top dog of the search engines for a long while now and that doesn't look to be changing any time soon, according to a poll of search engine users in America.

A staggering 83 per cent of respondents to a survey carried out by the Pew Internet & American Life Project gave Google the thumbs up compared to its competitors, with just six per cent opting for Yahoo, who pulled up in second place. These figures have changed dramatically since 2004, when Pew Internet last undertook the same survey. Eight years ago Pew found that 47 per cent of Americans used Google most for their searches, while Yahoo accounted for 26 per cent of all search traffic and the remaining 19 per cent came from all other search engines.

Most significantly, 59 per cent of people said that they used search engines at least once a day - a doubling of frequency since 2004.

The results make good reading for professional SEO services who target Google for search marketing techniques and goes to show that boosting your Google rankings should be the number 1 priority for any business that has an online presence.
