Emily Joins The Team

Hi! My name is Emily Robertson, I’m 21-years old and I am in my final year studying Magazine Journalism at the University of Derby.

Some of my day-to-day hobbies (when I have a minute) are walking my dog, Dolly, who is the fluffiest ball of energy you’ll ever meet and spending time with my mum and Gran. It has been really hard living away from them and not being able to see them throughout the pandemic, but their health is always my priority. My Gran has had her first vaccination and her next one is in five weeks’ time. She’s itching to hit the supermarkets and spend an afternoon M&S, bless her! She’s been wrapped in cotton wool by mum for a whole year now. They’ve both been incredible.

Being taken on by POLARIS Agency to work on their latest project, locks4.com is so exciting. I can’t wait to learn from both Amo and the team and showcase some of the skills that my Public Relations and Social Media modules at University have taught me so far.

During my first year of University, I managed to get a placement at a local B2B Agency in Derby called Avalanche Media Studios (now Avalanche Agency) for two-weeks. The experience I gained working at the Agency has definitely given me the confidence and passion to work in the PR industry. I was asked to return after my 2-week placement and stay full-time throughout the summer of 2019. I grew their Instagram page and followers to just under 10,000 and was trusted with big beauty clients, selling them social media packages and other products over the phone. This is where I found my passion for social media development and writing and also video editing. I had minimal experience editing, just my basic skills Uni had taught me in my first semester. However, by the end of summer I was editing client’s videos and pushing them through our agency channels and their socials. It was so amazing to be trusted with such responsibility!

I love working on projects, meeting new people and being positive (even when things don’t always quite go in the way in which we expect them to!). I think having a healthy and happy mental attitude as much as we can always help, even if it is a struggle sometimes.

My aspirations are to become confident in new technologies and help to grow my skills in B2B SEO, SEO and content creation.
