Rob Joins the Team

Hi, my name is Rob, and I’m really excited to be starting my new role here with Polaris. I’m 21 years old and have just graduated from the University of Reading with a degree in English Language and Applied Linguistics. I’m looking forward to getting involved with the projects here and to meeting my new team.

At University, one of my main hobbies was playing rugby. I played for the whole three years in which I was studying and am pleased to say I had the honour of captaining the IV Team in my second year. Rugby was great as it was an amazing way to meet new people, to be part of a really close team, and to get to travel and see other universities around the country. At university I also discovered a passion for cooking – being away from home and being in charge of my own meals meant I could really get creative in the kitchen! Now I love coming up with my own dishes and cooking to entertain family and friends. The other hobby that I would say occupies a lot of my free time is my love of reading. From a very young age I have always had my nose in a book, and love the escapism that reading can provide. I read all sorts of books and enjoy switching between genres to find incredible stories.

At University, I learned many skills and about many different areas of language study. I’m really excited to be able to use these skills I have learned during my undergraduate study in the first role of my career. I like to think I am a competent writer and have always loved creative writing when studying in school. I’m comfortable working with data too, and for my dissertation project I created a large corpus of words from children’s books to analyse the properties of language found in children’s literature. I also look forward to learning new skills here at Polaris, including learning about SEO and internet analytics.

Whilst working here with Amo and the team at Polaris, I’m excited to be able to develop and to grow into my role. This seems like a really fitting time to be joining such an ambitious and driven team, who I hope to learn a lot off. I can’t wait to start taking on my first clients and begin crafting content for them: it will be a great way to learn more about all sorts of different businesses and to use my writing skills. In the future I can’t wait to look back on today as the start of a great journey with Polaris!
