Technical optimisation for search, whether traditional or through LLMs isn't a new discipline so much as a new application of one we've practised for over fifteen years. The fundamentals that make a site visible to AI engines with clean crawl paths, server-rendered content, structured data, clear entity signals are the same foundations through SEO we've been resolving for brands for search engine visibility now adapted to the full suite of our generative engine optimisation services.
Our approach is led by the technical director involving a practical, hands-on and systematic. Rather than treating AI search as a bolt-on, we diagnose the technical barriers stopping generative engines from accessing and understanding your site, then take the lead on fixing them - from rendering and crawler access through to schema and machine-readable content. We work across more than 70 platforms, technical stacks and emerging technologies, so whatever your problem, we've likely diagnosed and solved it before.
Request an AI Visibility AuditWe work across the full technical foundation of AI search, tailoring each engagement so your site is discoverable, parsable and citeable across every generative engine. Our optimisation process is simple in steps, complex in application with a multi-faceted approach to ensure brand visibility in AI search platforms.
Many sites unknowingly block the crawlers they want to be cited by. We audit and configure your robots.txt and server rules for the major AI agents and resolve the firewall, CDN and security-plugin rules that silently turn them away. We also help you decide which agents to allow for live retrieval versus model training, so your content reaches AI answers on your terms rather than by accident.
What we do
Audit and manage how AI crawlers access your site, so the right bots can reach and read your content.
Raw HTML is noisy for AI systems, packed with navigation, scripts and boilerplate they have to strip before they can use your content. We implement llms.txt, page markdowns, and accessibility tree clarity to give engines a clean, curated map of your most authoritative pages, and produce structured content versions that retrieval-based engines like Perplexity can lift directly. This shortens the distance between your content and a citation.
What we do
Implement LLMs.txt and machine-readable formats, so AI engines can find and interpret your content cleanly.
Schema is how you give AI engines explicit, unambiguous signals about your content, reducing the work they have to do to interpret it. Most sites utilise out of box plugins to deploy schema, which often has gaps, broken grouping, and is not nested at a topic graph level. We implement and repair JSON-LD across the types that matter for generative answers, including Organization, Service, Article, FAQPage, Product and Review, keeping markup consistent with on-page content and embedding the verifiable fields AI pulls directly. We validate everything against Google's Rich Results testing so it holds up in practice.
What we do
Add and refine schema markup, so AI can understand what your content means and cite it with confidence.
Most AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript the way a browser does, so anything injected client-side can be invisible to them. We identify where critical content, links or schema are hidden behind heavy JavaScript and implement server-side rendering or pre-rendering so your core information is served in raw, crawlable HTML. The result is content AI engines can actually read, consistently and at scale, even on large or frequently updated sites.
What we do
Make sure content in present in the raw HTML or on JS frameworks render server-side, so AI engines can access and read it easily.
Generative engines lift passages, so content has to be built to be extracted. We restructure pages around answer-first formatting, descriptive headings, logical hierarchy and AI-friendly formats such as concise sections, tables, lists and FAQs, so engines can isolate and reuse the exact passage that answers a query. The easier your content is to parse, the more likely it is to become the cited answer.
What we do
Structure and format content for clean extraction, so AI can lift clear answers straight from your pages.
AI engines reason in entities, not keywords. We strengthen the signals that tell generative systems who your brand is, what it does and which topics it is authoritative in, through consistent entity markup, sameAs connections, person and author schema for copy disambiguation and knowledge graph alignment. This builds the topical association that gets your brand referenced when relevant prompts are searched, rather than a competitor.
What we do
Strengthen your entity and knowledge graph signals, so AI recognises and trusts your brand as a source.
In AI search, speed is often a qualifier rather than a ranking factor, because generative engines use time-limited crawlers and will skip slow or unstable sources for faster, more reliable ones. We optimise server response times, eliminate render-blocking resources and tighten Core Web Vitals so your pages are parsed in full before a crawler moves on. Faster pages improve both your odds of inclusion and the experience of users who arrive from AI answers.
What we do
Improve crawl efficiency and page speed, so AI crawlers can reach more of your content more often.
Conflicting statistics and outdated figures undermine the confidence AI systems place in your content. We put in place accurate publication and modification dates, lastmod sitemaps, canonicalisation, consistent metadata and hreflang where relevant, and a process for keeping key facts aligned across your site. Clear, current, non-contradictory signals make your site a source AI engines can cite with confidence.
What we do
Keep data current and consistent across your site, so AI surfaces accurate, up-to-date information about you.
Buyers were researching providers through AI tools like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity and Six Degrees wasn't being recommended.
Our three-pillar GEO strategy fixed that, earning the #1 AI Overview citation for "penetration testing services" and lifting AI Share of Voice from 0% to 20% for core security products in seven days. Technically we; analysed log files to see what content was being crawled by known bots, added nested Schema and structured the content in a clear - title, answer, CTA format for passage parse and retrieval.
The result: +200% penetration testing conversions and +500% across managed security services.

Technical SEO makes your site easy for search engines to crawl, index and rank, while improving accessibility for AI engines to access, render, interpret and trust your content so they cite it. The foundations overlap heavily, but GEO adds new requirements: managing AI-specific crawlers, serving content AI can read without executing JavaScript, and structuring data for citation rather than ranking position. It is the same discipline applied to a new set of consumers.
In most cases you should allow them. If AI crawlers are blocked in your robots.txt, at your CDN or by a firewall, your content cannot be cited in ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or AI Overviews, so you effectively disappear from AI search. Blocking only makes sense for specific reasons such as protecting proprietary content or meeting a legal obligation. We help you decide which agents to allow for live retrieval versus model training, and fix the accidental blocks, often Cloudflare or firewall defaults, that quietly shut crawlers out.
An llms.txt file is a useful addition rather than a strict requirement today. It gives AI systems a clean, curated guide to your most important pages in machine-readable form, which helps retrieval-based engines find and use your content. Adoption across AI platforms is still inconsistent, so we treat it as a low-effort, forward-looking measure that complements the fundamentals of crawler access, rendering and schema rather than replacing them.
Usually because the content depends on JavaScript that AI crawlers do not execute. Most AI crawlers read only the raw HTML your server returns, so anything loaded client-side, hidden behind tabs or interactions, or placed behind a login can be invisible to them even when Googlebot indexes it perfectly. Server-side rendering, accessible HTML and unblocked crawlers are what close that gap.
Because technical GEO is an extension of a discipline we have practised since 2009. The foundations that make a site citable by AI, including clean crawl access, server-rendered content, structured data and clear entity signals, are the same ones we have resolved for search engines for over fifteen years. That heritage was recognised with Best SEO Campaign at this year's European Search Awards. We take a hands-on, systematic approach across more than 70 platforms and technologies, diagnosing the specific technical barriers blocking your AI visibility and leading on the fixes rather than handing you a checklist.
"Making sure your technical foundations are on-point is the first step of any GEO campaign. In our experience, at least 4 in 5 brands have websites that make it very difficult for LLMs and AI assistants to crawl, parse the content, define the answer framework and position the sentiment around their core entities around what they want to be known for."James FooteSEO Director
