Google Updates Mobile Search Results

Google has updated its presentation of mobile SERPs in order to improve the quality of results and improve user experience, catering to the ever-growing mobile search market.

The algorithm update will use the ‘real world name’ of the website, instead of the domain name and the URL structure to show the most useful pieces of information for users. This will create a breadcrumb-like feature in the green text below mobile search results to give a better indication of where users are to be landing on a website.

SEO companies and businesses will also see schema.org support begin on mobile with the algorithm update to aid signalling to algorithms which pieces of information should be presented in mobile SERPs.

Changes from the updates will be rolled out gradually and only mobile results will be impacted.

The announcement of this minor algorithm change comes just a few days before Google’s highly anticipated Mobile Friendly website update takes place (April 21st).
